About
Frank Steele runs Steele Editing
Who: Frank Steele
What: Freelance editor
Why: I enjoy helping writers
When: Since 1982
I've worked as a proofreader, editor, indexer, fact checker and researcher for 41 years, mostly in staff positions, and since 2010 as a freelancer. I love editorial work because I enjoy helping people communicate and get their message across. That’s what I’d like to do for you.
I’m a longtime member of ACES (The Society for Editing) and the Editorial Freelancers Association, and I hold to high professional standards. I give my best for my clients because I want their writing to make a difference.
The style guide I use most often is the Chicago Manual of Style. I’m also familiar with APA and AP style, and I study and consult a wide variety of grammar, usage, and style books and websites. I proofread and edit in MS Word with track changes, in Acrobat files (PDFs) with comments, and in other programs as the need arises. I’m committed to meeting my deadlines, whatever it takes.
After living outside the United States for most of my life, I'm now based in the Dallas area, where I offer fast online proofreading, editing, indexing, fact-checking and other services. Contact me at frank@steele-editing.com. I look forward to working with you.
If you're looking for an editor (or a proofreader or an indexer), you want someone you can trust with your work. Give me a try. Send me a small excerpt of your work and I'll return a free sample edit with changes marked.
